Fit Foundations
A year and a half ago, I walked into Gold’s Gym the heaviest I had ever been. For 8 years, through middle and high school, as well as college, I took belly dancing, rode and showed my horse, and participated in different sports. My senior year I walked/jogged a marathon (well, 25 miles, but that’s a whole different story). I walked everywhere in college, and was able to work off whatever I ate. But about 3 years ago, I started having complications with my type 1 diabetes- and exercise was off the table (BUT everything else was ON the table). I started gaining weight, and it was happy to stay. After changing doctors, I was able to finally exercise again. And so it began.
Being unemployed, I was able to spend a great deal of time at the gym. I started taking different classes (Body Pump- a weight lifting barbell class), Turbo Kick (a kickboxing/boxing class with a high intensity Turbo section), and Body Combat (a mixed martial arts class). These classes, and my new gym friends, helped me drop 35 pounds. This is my blog, a story about my weight loss journey, a set of goals to lose more, and my adventures along the way.
